Abstract

The authors have reviewed 54 cases of lipomeningocele in children of age from I to 14 years old. The value of diagnostics methods including CT and MRI is demonstrated. Proposed classification of lipomeningocele is based on the type of meningocele (myelomeningocele) and on the lipoma extention regarding to the meninges and spinal cord. Application of microsurgical technigue reduces postoperative morbidity and provides good results in the management of lipomeningocele in children.
