Abstract

During the last 10 years in the institute of neurosurgery named after A.P.Romodanof were treated 12 children with gliomas of both optic nerves involving the optic chiasm.

Seven children were operated, three of them also using radiation therapy after operations. Five children were treated only radiation therapy.

Long-term observation (4—5 years) following the treatment showed no mortality. So statistical analysis which performed can be define that the investigation and the treatment of these patients permitted the life to be continued with good quality for long time preventing blindness.
