Application of 99мТс-MIBI SPECT for the dynamic control of the patients with brain gliomas during their treatment
Keywords:
99mTc-MIBI, single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), brain glioma, laser thermal destructionAbstract
99мТс-MIBI SPECT allows to evaluate outcomes of treatment of tumors of various organs, that causes a broad application it in the common oncology. However, in neurooncology this radiopharmacewtical is applied less often. The aim of our work was clarifaing possibilities 99мТс-MIBI SPECT in an evaluation of results of surgical tretatement of brain gliomas and in revealing of the continued growth of these tumors. Four patients with brain gliomas were investigate with 99мТс-MIBI SPECT up to and in different terms after the laser-thermodestruction of tumors. The data of 99мТс-МIBI SPECT allowed to diagnose a degree of malignancy of brain gliomas according to their level of visualization. The important peculiarity of the SPECT image was a visualization of horioidal plexuses of the brain. SPECT had higher informativity than computer tomography in an evaluation of results of the surgical treatment of brain gliomas. The application of SPECT in diagnostics of the continued growth of tumors, and also in an evaluation of outcomes of the chemotherapy was effective. So, 99мТс-MIBI SPECT is effective in diagnostics of a degree of malignancy, results of operating treatment of anaplastic astrocytoms and in revealing of their continued growth. This method can be recommended for dynamic control of the patients with brain gliomas during their treatment.References
