Development of surgical treathment of cerebro-vascular pathology

The article briefly summaries the history and period of development of the vascular clinic of the Ukrainian Neurosurgical Institute. The main landmarks of its development beginning from the introduction of the cerebral angiography accumulated axperience in the surgical management of hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke till microsurgical and endovascular treatment of arterial aneurysms and cerebro-vascular malformations in varions periods of their clinical course including acute phase are stated.
At current time our clinic develops and introduces new techniques of treatment such as transluminal angioplasty with endoprosthetics, embolisation of arterial aneurysms with tungsten coils and others.
