Psychiatric abnormalities in patients with epilepsy and methods of their correction in the department of functional neurosurgery

The article presents the results of management the patients with epilepsy with mental disturbances in the department of functional neurosurgery from 1995 till 1999. The high efficiency of drug therapy and surgery in complex treatment of such patients is shown. The combined operations which include cryodestruction of Amygdala and the transplantation of fetal nerve tissue lead stopping the seizures or significantly reduction their frequency and severity and also psycho-emotional and intellectual disturbances.
