The role of reconstructive surgery on extracranial segments of vertebral arteries in the treatment of blood flow insufficiency in vertebro-basilar territory
Keywords:
cerebrovascular disease, stenosis of vertebral arteries vertebroplasty-basilar insufficiency (VBI), surgical treatmentAbstract
Clinical and instrumental examination of patients with acute stroke and with chronic progression course of blood flow insufficiency in vertebro-basilar territory revealed stenotic-occlusive lesions in extracranial segments of vertebral arteries. After surgical correction of those stenotic lesions improvement of general condition and reduction of neurological disturbances were achieved.
Reconstructive surgery on vertebral arteries is considered as an effective treatment modality in the management of blood flow impairment in vertebro-basilar territory.
