Surgical technique and results of anterior approaches to the thoracik and lumbar spine trauma
Keywords:
trauma, anterior approach, corporectomy, stabilizationAbstract
Patients with spinal trauma may be treated with either nonoperative of surgical measures, which include anterior procedures, posterior procedures and combination of those. When anterior compression of neural structures is obvious, the anterior spinal surgery is the reliable method to decompress the cord adequately and to reconstruct and stabilize the anterior vertebral column. We summarize anterior spinal fusion surgical procedures performed in 9 patients with thoraco-lumbar injuries. Surgical techniques of the approaches used and those advantages are described in details.
