Punction laser vaporization of intrevertabrate disk sequesters

Abstract


Sequestration of intervertebral disk is formed contraindication for punсtion laser diskectomy (PLD). But, in some cases open diskectomy is contraindicated due to severe concomitant pathology. Direct sequester vaporization after myelography was developed. During experimental investigations using 20 intervertebral bovine disks & 8 disk sequesters removed during open diskectomy we revealed volume decreasing ranged 25—32% after PDL (600 J). Simultaneously temperature increasing on 6 mm distance from the light source was 2,3±0,18°C (p<0.05). We operated on 8 patients. In 6 cases good clinical outcome was observed — all continue their job. PLD of intervertebral disk sequesters may be used in cases were open operation is unsafe.
