The functional neurosurgery in Ukraine

The paper presents stages of the development of functional neurosurgery in Ukraine and history the department of functional neurosurgery of Institute neurosurgery named akad. A.P.Romodanov AMS of Ukraine. Article shows the basic purposes, tasks and principles of functional neurosurgery. Results of surgical treatment epilepsy, parkinson disease, muscular torticollis and other movement disordes are presented. High efficiency and safety are demonstrated.
The paper specifies main directions of research investigations which carry out in the development of functional neurosurgery.
