Degenerative spinal diseases and their functional classification

A pathogenetic classification for degenerative spinal disorders was proposed on the basis of investigation and analysis of specific alterations for a functional spinal unit. Causative and consequential chains of a pathogenesis of the degenerative spine, leading to violation of its supporting, movemental and protective functions, were considered and substantiated. Taking into consideration great social significance of this problem, it has an expediency to collaborate further with neurologists and neurosurgeons in order to reach high effectiveness of specialized medical care for patients suffering from degenerative spinal disorders.
