Abstract

Presence of onco- and herpes groups viruses in the tissue of brain tumors by the method of polymerase chain reaction was researched. 81 tumors were researched and it was established that poliomic viruses appear more often (29%) in glial tumors, whereas of herpes virus 7 type in medulloblastomas. Other viruses, in particular Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus appear by far rarely. Possible role of viruses in the initiation and development of brain tumors and use of antivirus therapy reasonable for treatment of tumors are discussed.
